What more can one say about this cozy neighborhood gem tucked into the Mekong Palace Shopping Center?  Khon provides a clean, comfortable spot to play darts, drink wine or beer and enjoy his tasty treats that are provided at no charge to (paying) patrons.

Khon's is a simple oasis.  There's a wide selection of beers and wines.  The food is grilled outside on the parking lot/patio that Khon sets up each and every day just outside the front door and below the watchful eye of their logo, the flying pig.

Khon is a gregarious bar owner who knows his customers well.  He genuinely enjoys the time he spends at his establishment chatting with regulars and welcoming newcomers.

If you are every in Midtown and want to try a different bar with friends I can recommend Khon's without reservation.  Any night of the week you can enjoy cold beer and sparkling conversation with a nice cross section of Houstonians from all walks of life.

Khon....Chuka Khon....Chuka khon Chuka Khon!......What happened to you?  I came here happy to finally find the time to stop by one of my favorite places nestled away from the other midtown ruckus to find you empty on a St. Patricks day with an semi empty place with no atmosphere.  It's St. Patricks day, everybody's busy!..except....

Long gone when I jotted a review years ago I remember the warmth welcoming vibe that I got here, the cute little kid that was running around ( do not care for other people's kids but this one was an exception, cute!) and the guy behind the counter that would suggest and happily serve me?

I felt like I got thrown into a parallel universe and visited the dark side of Khon by walking into a bar with no life, no music.  My friend wanted something sweet and I told her that they do not have spirited liquor here but let's ask if there is something alternate.  A Moscato was produced and I ordered the $1 beer.

The Moscato was great for her but the $8.50 I felt might have not been such a steep price if I were somebody else but maybe that's the going price but did not seem right.  The $1 beer was great except that it was almost room temperature if not 65 degree if best.  After feeling that I got the price bumped up for me and not even a "Hey how are you liking the beer" or even "would you like another round?" which I wouldn't have mind having another we brisky left with our  heads down in shame for not running back out when already feeling awkward about the setting.

This is not in any way attacking  your business khon and I think based on all of the great 5 star reviews including mine earlier that still it was just an off night and that you took the night off to celebrate.......but  your replacement just didn't seem to hold up to your standards I remembered from here.

I hope to visit you again to quell any cues that might have happened last  night but till then maybe I'll see you in another couple of years.

I saw this on my Yelp account and have been meaning to get there and when we went out for dinner we saw that Khon's was right next to the restaurant, wahoo!!

We went in with no idea what we were in for and we were pleased to see a couple of old video games, craft beer, a pew, darts, hot tea and Toy Story playing on the TV. People came in and out and what I could gather were no first-timers like my boyfriend and I. It was very laid back, had a few chairs and tables located outside to enjoy your tasty beverage outdoors. I like the idea of being surrounded by numerous eatery choices as well. It was pretty early so we definitely would like to return for the evening festivities.

I can't begin to tell you how important this place is for Houston, obviously I'm gonna try.  As soon as it opened, Art fans, Coffee Achievers, Cà phê đá addicts, Art Car folks, what's left of ye olde Urban Animals, the Houston Dart Scene, all my slags from The Axiom, UH Drama, Jazz Cats, Wine Snob Yuppies, Fitness Freaks, Sake Aficionados, Lefties, Righties, Anarcho-Capitalists, even Marxists (If you can believe they're  still around), all found a place to sip at Khon Lu's oasis. I met THE SUFFERS here!!This is the true human equivalent of an African watering hole.. you'll never see giraffes, lions, hippos, and crocodiles so happy together. If God finds out that the Garden of Eden has been so artfully recreated, we're all either doomed or blessed. And it seems that every soul in Khon's knows this.  Come in and meet the world. It's the one place where you can show love to fellow souls you may completely disagree with. I wish America was like Khon's. Maybe we can all come together and share this beautiful, open, secret place.
And may Khon one day reassemble his Golden Temple Dart Team
